Introduction :

Mental, Behavioural and Substance use disorders have emerged as a growing public health concern in our country and are associated with high rates of morbidity and burden. Due to lack of awareness and the prevailing stigma, these disorders are often neglected and fail to receive adequate care and treatment they need. With this vision in mind, Dept. of Psychiatry was started in 2017 at BRLSABVM Govt. Medical College and Hospital Rajnandgaon (C.G.)

• OPD: Consultation and counselling services are available at Psychiatry OPD.
• IPD: Admission & Inpatient treatment services are available at 10-bedded Psychiatry Ward.

World Mental Health Day 2019 Celebration :
• Mental Health Awareness Camp for general public at Psychiatry OPD of BRLSABVM Govt. Medical College and Hospital Rajnandgaon (C.G.)
• CME on “Suicide prevention and Mental Health Promotion” on 10th October 2019 at BRLSABVM Govt. Medical College and Hospital Rajnandgaon (C.G.)
• Quiz competition for MBBS students on 11th October 2019 at BRLSABVM Govt. Medical College and Hospital Rajnandgaon (C.G.)

Psychosocial Support for COVID-19 :
• WhatsApp group of Isolation and Quarantined patients of COVID-19 has been formed and regular counselling and other stress relieving and motivational activities being done. In addition, patients are counselled over phone call and video calls.
• Mental Health aspects of COVID-19 is an integral part of Teaching and Training committee of BRLSABVM GMC Rajnandgaon. Moreover, regular training is being given to all the trainees in the district in this regard by Dept of Psychiatry.
• The Psychiatry Dept as a part of the COVID-19 Hospital Team is regularly undertaking Counselling and stress management activities for admitted patients.
• Counselling, stress management and motivation of Health Care Workers doing COVID-19 duty is being regularly done by various in person and online channels.

• As Resource person at State Level One day Workshop on Childhood Disorder among School going Children, Topic- “Child Psychiatry Problem among School going Children” At Rajnandgaon (C G), on 17th January 2020.
• Participated as delegate at 72nd Annual National Conference of Indian Psychiatry Society (ANCIPS) 2020 at Kolkata from 22nd to 25th January 2020, CME Credit of 23.5 hours.
• As second author Mass Psychogenic Illness: A report and short review, free paper presentation at ANCIPS 2020 on 23rd January 2020.
